Labelsun Limited originally began trading in 1996 as Newton Labels and was equipped with Semi-Rotary Letterpress, along with a small two Colour Tackyboy Flexo Press.
In 2003, multi-colour flexo technology was rapidly becoming ‘the’ recognised printing process for the self-adhesive labels market. The owner, Marc Bradley, decided to re-brand the Company as Labelsun Limited and upgraded its machine capability with the acquisition of its first six colour water based Aquaflex press.
In 2005, a second seven Colour Aquaflex was added, in order to meet growing customer demand for print of the highest quality, produced in a ‘just in time’ environment.
Labelsun Limited was predominantly a self-adhesive label manufacturer, with the majority of labels being paper based, ranging from blank labels to high quality seven colour designs. The Company continued to grow, and with excellent repro and quality plate materials, kept itself at the high end of flexographic printing. As the label business continued to expand, the requests for different and more diverse materials became more frequent, and this showed the limitation of water based flexo. Labelsun Limited began making further investment, with the acquisition of a new ‘state of the art’ eight colour UV flexo press.
In 2011, the Company installed a new UV eight colour Nilpeter FB330 press. The addition of this press allowed us to expand, firstly into the filmic label business and secondly, into the flexible packaging market specialising in the print and supply of reel to reel materials from unsupported film, to various paper and plastic laminated constructions for a number of market sectors. This included direct and in-direct food, drink, automotive, medical, beauty, healthcare, horticulture and agriculture, to name but a few.
Also in 2011, In order to successfully convert the many filmic, paper and plastic constructions, Labelsun Limited invested in new slitting and rewind equipment, with the acquisition of the impressive servo controlled 440mm wide Flexor machine, in order to service both our label and flexible markets.
In May 2012, Labelsun Limited was accredited with the prestigious BRC Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials – High Risk (Issue 4). This has enabled the business to service and develop its flexible packaging division, as well as providing our new and existing customers with assurances that their products are manufactured in a clean environment, using clearly defined, controlled and documented procedures and instructions.
In recent times, Labelsun Limited has moved into new premises, doubling the size of the previous site, conveniently located close to the M60 at Bredbury, Stockport. This has set the stage to move the labels and flexible packaging businesses forward, without compromising the level of service and quick turnaround from conception to finished printed product, our valued and loyal customers have received for the last fifteen years.
